Dictatorship has moved along nicely. As has now happened the problem is that when:

1. Harper placed the RCMP control under the party in power.
2 Placed the electoral commissioner under his Party.
3. Placed the right for his Minister of Justice to review the Supreme Court judgments.
4 He treated the senate as an appointed dictatorship, which it still is. .
5. And as with Trudeau accepts lobbying that is mostly a tool the corporations can use.
6. Prevented third parties or the Greens from being placed upon committees or limited their expressions.
7. Allowed robo calls to exist to redirect voters to the wrong voting site.
8. Tried to prohibited people who are not literate in English or French from voting.
9 Allowed senate, a non elected body to overturn parliament’s approved bills.
10.Allowed gerrymandering of voting districts so boundaries automatically favour one party.
11 Allowed omnibus bills to pass when details are not discussed in Parliament.
12. And I read in The Economist ( Oct 28,2017, p 15) that ,”Personalized authoritarian rule has spread across the world in the past fifteen years -often, as with Mr. Putin, built on the fragile base of a manipulated , winner-takes-all democracy” Which is what we have.

This is especially telling when our PM campaigned on more democratic electoral process of one person one vote representation in parliament. But now he has thrown his lot in with the wealthy elites- brought to light by the Paradise Papers. It is not just keeping the law as is, it is what law one makes that counts should move us closer to democracy not further away as is now happening. We must now reduce the power of the senate and make it a disgrace to accept a seat on an unelected senate. We must be assured they will vote their own salaries down to closer to zero before they take a seat and ostracize those that do not.

Further the economic model we use favours the few, it has The Economist says “messy complications from environmental damage to inequality,” (Sept.23 2017 p70).pushing the wealth up to the rich powerful elite who avoid paying taxes to correct the damage.

We as Canadians have to vote with our minds or we are close to losing the democracy we have left. The Paradise Papers make one realize the public does not have the control we thought. But we suppose the media are aware of that.

Then since government has pushed our system toward an almost dictatorial form of government, it is not surprising that the institutions that are created are not very democratic nor do they listen to expressions of freedom of speech.

Why is climate warming not the main subject in the schools curriculum.?
Why does the weather channel not report approximately which events are likely influenced by global warming?
Why do comprehensive weather reports not state clearly when weather events are the cause of death, and when they are a cause of death it should be made clear each time that this is a part of burning fossil fuels. Avoiding full information is a form of lying.
About Oct 30 2017, scientists announced there has been the largest increase of CO2 in the atmosphere for 800,000 years Since we were able to gear up for WW ll in one year why are we not able today to implement an effective green energy program?
Why does the Petroleum institute encourage pumping carbon dioxide into the ground when they support fracking that will make the rock porous and leak any CO2 pumped into the ground leak back up into the atmosphere. Are there not laws against hate mail?
Why do we not clearly discuss what the cost of climate disasters are and their accumulative costs and their accumulative impact upon GDP.

We need action.
Since the there has been a rapid sudden rise in CO2 in the atmosphere why is Trudeau not moving rapidly to green energy? We know this will be costly but it will be far more costly if we do not take action now!

Why has Trudeau not corrected these above problems?

Emissions from human activities have levelled off but concentrations in the atmosphere continue to grow
Concentrations of CO2 in the Earth’s atmosphere surged to a record high in 2016, according to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
Last year’s increase was 50% higher than the average of the past 10 years.
Researchers say a combination of human activities and the El Niño weather phenomenon drove CO2 to a level not seen in 800,000 years.
Scientists say this risks making global temperature targets largely unattainable.
This year’s greenhouse gas bulletin produced by the WMO, is based on measurements taken in 51 countries. Research stations dotted around the globe measure concentrations of warming gases including carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide.
The figures published by the WMO are what’s left in the atmosphere after significant amounts are absorbed by the Earth’s “sinks”, which include the oceans and the biosphere.
Climate change: a guide
A brief history of Earth’s CO2

2016 saw average concentrations of CO2 hit 403.3 parts per million, up from 400ppm in 2015.
“It is the largest increase we have ever seen in the 30 years we have had this network,” Dr Oksana Tarasova, chief of WMO’s global atmosphere watch programme, told BBC News.
“The largest increase was in the previous El Niño, in 1997-1998 and it was 2.7ppm and now it is 3.3ppm, it is also 50% higher than the average of the last ten years.”

El Niño impacts the amount of carbon in the atmosphere by causing droughts that limit the uptake of CO2 by plants and trees.
Emissions from human sources have slowed down in the last couple of years according to research, but according to Dr Tarasova, it is the cumulative total in the atmosphere that really matters as CO2 stays aloft and active for centuries.
Over the past 70 years, says the report, the increase in CO2 in the atmosphere is nearly 100 times larger than it was at the end of the last ice age.
Rapidly increasing atmospheric levels of CO2 and other gases have the potential, according to the study to “initiate unpredictable changes in the climate system… leading to severe ecological and economic disruptions.”

The study notes that since 1990 there has been a 40% increase in total radiative forcing, that’s the warming effect on our climate of all greenhouse gases.
“Geological-wise, it is like an injection of a huge amount of heat,” said Dr Tarasova.
“The changes will not take ten thousand years like they used to take before, they will happen fast – we don’t have the knowledge of the system in this state, that is a bit worrisome!”
According to experts, the last time the Earth experienced a comparable concentration of CO2 was three to five million years ago, in the mid-Pliocene era. The climate then was 2-3C warmer, and sea levels were 10-20m higher due to the melting of Greenland and the West Antarctic ice sheets.
Other experts in the field of atmospheric research agreed that the WMO findings were a cause for concern.

Droughts related to El Niño, such as this one in Colombia, limited the ability of plants and trees to soak up carbon
“The 3ppm CO2 growth rate in 2015 and 2016 is extreme – double the growth rate in the 1990-2000 decade,” Prof Euan Nisbet from Royal Holloway University of London told BBC News.
“It is urgent that we follow the Paris agreement and switch rapidly away from fossil fuels: there are signs this is beginning to happen, but so far the air is not yet recording the change.”
Another concern in the report is the continuing, mysterious rise of methane levels in the atmosphere, which were also larger than the average over the past ten years. Prof Nisbet says there is a fear of a vicious cycle, where methane drives up temperatures which in turn releases more methane from natural sources.

“The rapid increase in methane since 2007, especially in 2014, 2015, and 2016, is different. This was not expected in the Paris agreement. Methane growth is strongest in the tropics and sub-tropics. The carbon isotopes in the methane show that growth is not being driven by fossil fuels. We do not understand why methane is rising. It may be a climate change feedback. It is very worrying.”
The implications of these new atmospheric measurements for the targets agreed under the Paris climate pact, are quite negative, say observers.
“The numbers don’t lie. We are still emitting far too much and this needs to be reversed,” said Erik Solheim, head of UN Environment.
“We have many of the solutions already to address this challenge. What we need now is global political will and a new sense of urgency.”
The report has been issued just a week ahead of the next instalment of UN climate talks, in Bonn. Despite the declaration by President Trump that he intends to take the US out of the deal, negotiators meeting in Germany will be aiming to advance and clarify the rulebook of the Paris agreement.

Las Vegas Slaughter and Climate Change Slaughter 3 Oct 2017

Posted by Willard Anderson on October 2nd, 2017.

The killer in Las Vegas did not know his victims. When they suffered he had no connection to the those who suffered. Not knowing the relationship left him with a clear conscience. It only him with a feeling of being known in the world.

In climate change those who caused the CO2 climate change deaths did not know their victims. Those who caused the CO2 climate change had no connection to those who suffered. Not knowing the sufferers left the people who caused the death with a clear conscience. It left them only with a feeling of having achieved good things in their lives that made them feel they have something to be remembered for.

When you are absent from the victim you hold no empathy for him/her. We need to feel we are more of a community and that we stands up for everyone. When you get a man like O’Leary who says, “Greed is Good” then he is willing to absent himself from all the destruction and the bad that he causes. He should not get away with this. The new economic model suggested by Landerrachie, Bowles, Carlin, and Stevens * in “The Economy” may finally have an impact upon an old destructive economic model that is killing the world. Let us hope they are not too late.

The question is should those who were most destructive pay the penalty?

To be a great man/woman means something more than being an expert in a discipline. It means also valuing humanity and the earth environment we live in. Each of us has a duty to our children and grandchildren. If we are not willing to honour that kind of dedication then we should be certain we have no children, since growth is a cancer. Progress a gift.

There is one thing that seems to be repeated daily since we are not taking adequate action. Countries or corporations say their impacts will be felt twenty or thirty years out. With the rapid release of methane (twenty times worse than CO2 in creating heating.) from melted perma frost, that could be a way too late.

Super-heatwaves of 55°C to emerge if global warming continues

Heatwaves amplified by high humidity can reach above 40°C and may occur as often as every two years, leading to serious risks for human health. If global temperatures rise with 4°C, a new super heatwave of 55°C can hit regularly many parts of the world, including Europe.”

People who do not respond with direct action are part of the problem! Reduce your CO2 footprint. Buy green electric energy. Buy electric or hybrid cars. Use solar panels. Look up “defeating climate warming” on the net.

Should Canada sell off defence, security, airports, technology to China to woo a free trade agreement. First there is no free trade in China. This dictator is becoming more vicious and has his targets on the world.

In data gathering there are two main problems arising in China.
1. They expect companies operating in China to hold their data on the cloud within China.
2. They will regulate companies that want to export data to other parts of the worlds to get a permit to do so before they can export data.

“China is rejigging its laws to keep data inside China”. China laws are “over broad and mischievously vague”. “Foreign technology firms fret they will be forced to divulge intellectual property to government inspectors, … that such secrets will not be passed on to local rivals .. with no guarantees. — The new law may be a Trojan horse designed to promote China’s aggressive policy of indigenous innovation.” stated in “Going Its Own Way”, The Economist. June 3, 2017. pp 60-61. China is buying up land in Africa which Africa needs to feed it’s millions. China is no friend of Africa. China no doubt has its eye on Canada’s prairie lands. And Saskatchewan just stopped the sale of Potash Corp to China which in a legal dispute through the WTO would then cede Potash Corp to China.
It is ludicrous to think that one can woo a free trade agreement by selling off companies to China that we use for our security. Is Trudeau’s thoughtfulness on what is free trade getting in the way or is a corporation about to make huge windfall profits? We can learn from Vancouver where foreign money drove up house prices. If we sell off a high tech company we will be buying back product at highly inflated prices and higher profits will go to the new owner.

We know from experience that selling off our large corporations nets the profits to a foreign country. After all Exxon netted a $40 billion profit for two years, much of it from Alberta’s oil wealth while Alberta got a $2.00 a barrel royalty making it a laughing stock. Alberta also today has a huge debt unlike the experience in Norway which has a multi billion dollar heritage investment fund. Who does capitalism benefit?

Free trade has its limitations when the other country does not play by the same rules. Do not be fooled that a county of thirty million can control rule of law in a country of one billion people. Trump as well is now devising his own rules, will we never learn? It strikes me that we may have to redefine what it means to be a real Canadian.

Quick Review of Green Energy 7/27/2017

Posted by Willard Anderson on July 27th, 2017.

The Economist July 15 p 66. Global increase in temperatures could in this “century could impact US GDP by as much as -5.6 %”. The very rich cause a a lot of the global warming. The poor pay most of the cost. Further warming could cause “falling crop yields and labour productivity, and rising mortality and crime.“ ///.p.61. “ In some countries …solar photo voltaic … are now cheaper than gas.” And green technologies are getting cheaper while fossil fuels costs are getting more costly. The momentum is with green technologies . There was more new green tech power produced than fossil fuel power in the last year. The liquified natural gas project in BC has just been scrapped. “Pointman ” says the money for green energy has been withdrawn. I don’t know the details of this but it is worth researching.

Donald Trump — His Character Defines Him

This man as leader of a society is the antithesis of everything for a society that is healthy, cooperative, good, sane and progressive

He lies on a regular basis. Would he not want an investigation into the Russian affair if he had not been in collusion with them? Would you want your doctor to act like this?

He grabs money at anyones expense. He has filed for bankruptcy and avoids paying creditors. Would you want such a man to design your tax system?

He pulled out of the Paris agreement. Today millions are dying from fossil fuel created CO2 and climate warming weather disasters. Would you send your children to a school that behaved this way?

He dominates disregarding others opinions behaving like a dictator and and disregards the inherent principles that have made the USA great .He moves the USA towards dictatorship. Would you choose to live in such a country?

He allegedly defrauded students at his Trump University, taking from those who are trying to better themselves. Would you want your church to behave like this?

He places members of his family to important advisory positions The fathers of the USA constitution disliked rule by primogenitor as a bad system. Would you want to live in a country with Trumps style of rule through his children permanently?

He has encouraged his followers to harass and even harm those with different opinions than his own. during the election campaign Would you want your church congregation to behave like this?

If you answer these questions honestly then one should vote accordingly. He is a man who has taken the USA away from greatness.

Democracy at Risk 25 April 2017

Posted by Willard Anderson on April 25th, 2017.

Democracy April 2017 There are “60,426 spam comments blocked” and “44,741 malicious log in attempts” to stop freedom of speech on this site.
Democracy is more than the right to vote, Turkey can tell you that. Democracy is dependent upon democratic institutions, rule of law, an unbiased supreme court, the right to charge anyone who breaks the law: political figure, non resident in Canada, corporate leaders, a political party, trade agreements that do not give the “right of a citizen” under the Charter to corporations in order for corporations to get the rule of law over people. Trade deals that do not undercut citizens rights to law, to right of access to Canadian resources without interference from other sovereign states especially when they are murderous dictatorships who want undisputed rights to Canadian resources. A system which recognizes the rights of labour and the right to be in a union to get fair return for work done. It is peculiar how many of these rights have disappeared from Canadians. Our so called democracy has been weakened greatly by leaders like PM Harper, by international agreements signed and about to be signed. By a leader who reneges on a promise for a more democratic voting system – Trudeau.
China wants undisputed rights to Canadian Resources in a free trade agreement. That would have meant that Potash Corporation’s fertilizer would be shipped not to our provinces but out to the land China controls in Africa to feed Chinese while Africans starve unable to feed its millions which are starving during the current drought, despite having some of the worlds best agricultural land, but much now controlled by China. Such is the case for many of these issues that political agreements freely sign away under the guise of an impervious curtain and of unrequited mutual benefit. Canadians are not fools!
So what do we need to do?
Alberta suffers debt due to the 40 $ billion profit extracted from Canadian petroleum by Exon. Alberta has become a laughing stock. They now want Canadians to subsidize tar sands to the detriment of all Canadians due to: extreme floods, ice storms and heat waves from climate warming. Fossil fuels have now killed 51 people in Canada.
Harper’s omnibus bills remain hidden to this day. Why are they not explained in the press? It is also a controlled press that deteriorates democracy further. Without information there is no truth, without truth there is no free vote, without free vote there is no democracy.
Free trade with a murderous dictatorship is bound to include the principles of a state a as large as China , who now endeavours to control Australia, which they consider in their sphere of influence. But sphere of influence is a false principle designed to maintain colonial devices. Global capitalism has gone that way.
Many mechanisms of state are now politically controlled not by the people but by party politics.

Change back : 1. The of electoral commissioner beholden to a party, so this allows that that party can no longer be sued for interrupting a free vote, such as the conservative “robo call” fiasco.
2. The RCMP beholden to a party not to citizen oversight.
3. An electoral system that allows for full control regardless of a 39% vote and no representation for representatives elected by the Green Party, a forward looking party.
4. A supreme court whose decisions can now be over ruled by the Minister of Justice, a party member. These are the motivations of dictatorship. They must be changed to once again become democratic institutions.
5. A Charter of Rights and Freedoms designed for the people that has been highjacked by business Corporations which use it to defer human rights and freedoms.
6. A potential free trade agreement that could make Canada a vassal of China, feeding that murderous regime at the loss of Canadian rights to our own resources. Money or China’ s wealth would buy all.
7. Further China demands a forced extradition treaty, which would mean sending supposed villains back to a murderous lawless dictatorship.

Benjamin Franklin said that,
“Anyone who would trade freedom for security [or profit] deserves neither.”
9. A USA free trade agreement – NAFTA, that allows US companies to sue us for lost profits, and they have, but with no reciprocal duty to the same principle for Canadian companies.
Would Pierre Trudeau roll over in his grave at what his son is doing?

Problems for Priority for Benefit of the Young, 7 April 2017
These are extremely important.

1. Deal with climate warming, switch to green energy or non fossil fuels to reduce the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere start pumping it out with the same fervour we pumped it into the atmosphere.

2. Clean up farming so it doesn’t dispose of unused fertilizer by draining it into the oceans and adding to the 500 dead zones in the ocean.

3. Reduce tree cutting until there is empirical evidence that forests can regenerate.

4. Stop over fishing and reduce trawler use until the threat of fisheries collapse no longer occurs and threatens loss of an important food supply.

5. Clean up the oceans . Clean up plastic in the oceans and stop plastics from entering the food chain.

6. Require all parents of 16 yr old children and younger to take parenting courses where participation can be confirmed.

7. Ensure via scheduling that educational opportunities become accessible and universal.

8. Encourage basic health services and impose court penalties directly impacting dictators that refuse.

9. Use the precautionary principle and do not allow human exposure, consumption or ingestion of toxic chemicals until they are proven safe.

10. Require forms of government to be classified as to the amount of input the people have who are being governed.

11. Require annually the distribution of countries’ wealth to be publicized to the people of the country and if it is unfair spell out the problems publicly.

12. Transfer away from fossil fuel use, requiring first world countries to set the example and third world countries to be scheduled in over ten years.

13. Impose a one child policy globally until it is proven that the population can be sustained in that country without destruction of the biological stability of the earth. Measures include no further destruction of ecosystems and regenerating those ecosystems that are integral to the health of the earth.

14. All political and law imposing agencies be required to have a biologist with veto power on his/her governing advisers.

15. Recognition of the other neighbours in our galaxy or universe is mandatory to long term existence.
